Coron (Palawan)
Check more destinations
Coron is a municipality located at the north of Palawan and is just an hour flight from Manila. This wedge-shaped limestone island is a relatively small province on a beautiful bay, where the economy of tourism is made by small-medium sized services and accommodations. From Coron town, you can have daily boat trips (usually for small groups of tourists, 2 to 6 people per boat) cruising around wild and beautiful islands, lagoons and volcanic lakes and go swim and observe nature and its majestic spontaneity.
Find your favorite and easy snorkeling spots here available for all kinds of tourists, thanks to the beautiful wide spread of coral reefs. A must is a day trip on a boat to snorkel and dock on small islands with white sand shores to have a barbecue picnic for your lunch.
The fishing town of Coron itself is an interesting small and quaint town for which a half day of exploration should be enough. Going up to the town's hill is rewarding as you admire the beautiful landscape of the town from the top.
Another very interesting spot is the hot springs, reachable with a short 20 minute ride in one of the small local tricycles (motorcycles with sidecars). An underground volcano heats the spring water and results to a naturally hot open-air swimming pool surrounded by mangrove trees. Taking a dip here is loved by many; aside from being relaxing, it also has rejuvenating properties thanks to the famous algae spirulina.
To complete this picture, we can find here some of the most genuine home-cooked food in family-style restaurants with a very homey atmosphere and great service.
If you are into nature and sea activities in a very provincial setting, then Coron is definitely the adventure destination for you!
